Want to get involved but don’t want to commit to a committee role?
That’s fine! Become an Open Trustee!
Open Trustees are offered the ability to engage with the organisation and running of Open Plan Scotland, in a flexible-commitment capacity. The features of the role are as follows:
Non-committal invitation to attend and provide input to all committee meetings, with attendance at our AGM the only core expectation
An opportunity to cast a vote in any relevant committee meeting decisions, if present
A seat on our ‘reserve bench’ if a committee member needs to be replaced at short notice
An opportunity to provide their skills and experience directly to Open Plan Scotland as required and if desired, either on a one-off basis or as part of a specific working group led by a committee member – this could be anything from assisting with event hosting and organisation, graphic design or even an introduction/friendly liaison to a third party
Ultimately we would just appreciate your support and attendance at our events to bring energy, passion and build a genuine sense of community together!
Anybody can apply for this role, the only requirements are the same as all other committee roles:
You are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community
You currently, and for the foreseeable future, are based in Scotland
You are a member of the architectural community; this includes non-registered architectural workers, students, educators and associated vocations (i.e. technologists, business management staff, bidding teams, and non-architectural design roles based within an architectural practice such as interiors, urban design or planning).
Please read the 2025 Committee Open Call information document below for a bit more information and context for the Open Trustee role.
If you choose to put your name forward, please use the form available below. You can also apply by sending us a voice recording, if writing is not your preferred method for doing so. Please read the information document and the application form for details.
There is no deadline for becoming an Open Trustee, you can apply whenever you like!
Note: We welcome responses from all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, but particularly encourage responses from those who are members of minority ethnic and ethnically diverse, disabled and neurodiverse, woman, non-cis, and working class demographics. We also encourage responses from those who live beyond the Central Belt. You do not need to be an architect to apply. Read the information document for full details.
